Thetis beseeches Zeus to let her son become immortal. Zeus is reluctant to grant her wishfor reasons known only to him. Zeus is nervous because of Thetis’s request. He rages and threatens to throw his thunderbolts all over the place.Soon Thetis’s charm works on Zeus. He becomes quite amenable and finally instructs Thetis to plunge baby Achilles into the Stix to make him immortal.Minutes later Zeus regrets that he babbled out the secret of immortality. Too late. All he can do is scratch his head.
